Vehicle graphics are an incredibly useful tool in your marketing arsenal. A number of businesses utilize vehicle advertising to maximize their exposure in their market and get new business through their doors. But many businesses do vehicle advertising wrong. There are a number of ways that you can miss the mark with vehicle advertising. Here are a few things to avoid when designing vehicle graphics for your vehicles.

Placement

One of the first things to avoid is improper placement. You might have awesome colors, images and copy on your vehicle wrap or graphic, but if it’s not in a place that optimizes its visibility, you’re not going to get the attention you need to make keep your business going. For example, some vehicles have hard angles in places like their back windows. So, putting the most important information on your wrap over the back window is pointless. Only someone above your car would be able to read the information. Instead, keep the most relevant information in a spot where everyone will be able to read it easily, like a flat surface.

Crowded Copy

Another way you can ruin a vehicle wrap is by over-crowding it with too much copy. The more copy on your wrap, the less people will be able to actually read it. When you crowd your copy, your most relevant information, like your name and phone number, become lost in product descriptions and areas you serve. Make sure that the most important information is prominently displayed first and foremost, then if you have some extra room, add some more copy, but not at the cost of your contact information.

Distracting Images

Similarly, too many images can distract from your message. If your vehicle wrap is crowded with images, people are going to be focused on these and much less on what you do and how they can contact you. So, you need to find the right images that will grab attention and let people know a little bit about your business without overcrowding your wrap. The key is balance between text, images and blank space.
